Phew!
I wasn’t looking forward to the break up.
What worries me about this situation, is that Lizzie has been abandoned by her mama, and her dad, and let me tell you that really scars a little girl. I was a little girl like Lizzie, and it has taken me years to get over losing loved ones at a young age(not to prison-but deaths). I do hope that you are able to get through to this family Zadge and make a difference for them. I will be praying for you all!

so glad you changed your mind. i was thinking of all the other leavings she has suffered and that all you have already done might be lost. now she will feel like you are different from what she has known and that you don’t leave when the going gets tough. In The Realm of Hungry Ghosts by Dr. Gabor Mate might be of interest to you. basically people with issues (most of us) suffer from disconnect (attachment/feelings of being abandoned) at critical development times (even as early as the womb) and that criticism, harsh “you need to change” directives don’t work. Unconditional love/acceptance where they are is the start to help. of course it’s not that simple. anyway, you are awesome. and so much fun to follow.

Thank goodness. So many people have left this little girl. I’m proud of you. Just try to focus on Lizzie, not her entire dysfunctional family. I’m not saying it will ever work out the way you dreamed — and you may end up having that break-up one day. But remember, it’s not Lizzie’s fault…..I wish you a very Merry Christmas and all good things in the New Year!
