Hi Zadge, not to beleaguer the subject and I understand that I do not know all you know about it but here again is my take on a total ban on guns. First, of course, is our right to bear arms. (I know, bla..bla..bla). Second: Guns have been banned in England. You would not believe the number of gangs openly roaming the streets, even in upper class residential neighborhoods, robbing and stabbing people if they resist. Believe me, with knives, the criminal activity there is scary. These gangs are ruthless and knifing is quick and silent. My granddaughter spent 3 months there visiting her boyfriend in a wealthy neighborhood and this is a fact. Will knives be the next item to be banned here? Where does it end? Here’s an old one: when guns are banned, criminals will still have guns. We homeowners will be sitting ducks. I guess I am just as adamant as you are, so let’s call it a draw. Merry Christmas.

Maggie, I believe you are correct that we must focus on mental illness as an aspect of any new gun control laws. And I agree – there is no place for anyone other than the military to have an assault rifle. But, without giving too much away about the Top Secret Day Job, I can tell you that I have witnessed an unfathomable amount of death by guns in the hands of totally mentally fit people. But I fully admit that I am pretty radical about my views on gun ownership – I think there should be a total ban. The Zadge, ever the Radical.
