Memorial Day Moments

Al fresco noodles with Lizzie:  (followed by Tar-jay shopping for a new summer outfit and an orange and white striped, skirted bikini, sized 8-years old, to reward a very good report card.)

A newbie’s intense “you-squirrels-up-in-the-tree-taunting-me-I-will-catch-your-squirrely-asses-one-of-these-days” stare, and a veteran’s calm “Mom-that-new-cowhide-rug-looks-like-it-needs-some-poo-and-puke” stare:

New flower beds in Old Vicky’s front yard, awaiting this week’s installation of a new sprinkler system and sod:

(It was easy.  It only took the Zadge six hours of digging, and composting, and designing, and re-designing, and driving to the nursery twice in one day and  the hardware store once, and mulching, and sweating.)

Blondes drunk on fresh-squeezed grapefruit vodka sodas:

(Which necessitated the Chilean sleeping over with her beautiful Golden Retriever, formerly known as Harry’s Bitch, but now known as Bug’s Bitch.)

Harry being totally shut out of the non-stop rastlin’:

Being a third wheel poops a poor guy out:

Spending a beautiful, sunny Memorial Day in a hammock with a glass of wine and a great book:
Priceless.  And requires very good balance.

The dogs playing warmed my heart, but I can’t get the photos to completely load.

The pictures finally loaded after about an hour and a half.

The old vicky’s yard is starting to look pretty great. Lush enough to look like you put a lot of work into it, but casual enough for alfresco noodle dinners and dog wrestles.

WTG Lizzie – nice work on the *very* good report card!

  5. Bridget says:

So jealous of you in the hammock – Ms.Bee is reading that book as well, however she is so damn tired from all the yard work and graduation festivities going on that she gets about 3 pages read every night and goes out! I like it so far though!

  6. I am feeling the need for a hammock. And one of those grapefruit vodka sodas!

  7. Dawn in DC says:

There is no way on God’s green earth I would have been able to take that picture on the hammock. Hammocks just don’t like me. And no, it is NOT user error!!

    Way to go, Lizzie!!

  8. My husband is currently reading that book.
And I am drinking the wine. (and the vodka sodas)
    Good girl, Lizzie!

I am off to order green coffee beans but first I must tell you that I want Harry. I love him and pet him and I will call him George. Love me some harry.
